The Kano State Hisbah Board on Wednesday sacked one of its commanders, Sani Nasidi Uba, (popularly as Sani Remo) for “causing embarrassment to the command.”
Commander Remo was found guilty of “serious misconduct” by a committee set up by the Commander General, Ustaz Harun Muhammad Ibn Sina.
Before his sack, Remo has been one of the leading officials in arresting commercial sex workers in the state.
He was, however, arrested in February allegedly with a married woman inside a hotel room at Sabon Gari area of the city.
He then explained to the police authorities that the woman in question was his niece who was having issues with her husband.

Reacting to his dismissal, Remo told journalists his sack has nothing to do with the hotel case.
“They did not dismiss me because of this (hotel) issue; there was a burning issue between the board and I. We had some disagreements recently so they just used that opportunity to sack me. My disengagement with them had nothing to do with what they are accusing me of,” he said.
“They set up committee to investigate me and they gave the committee three days to submit the report but the committee failed to report within three days and Kano State police command has said they did not find me guilty after their investigation.
“Remember, I am currently in court with the journalists who aired the story without contacting me for balancing and some Kannywood actors who shared the story.”
