The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has elected Professor Chris Piwuna as its new president.
He takes over from Professor Emmanuel Osodeke.
Prof. Piwuna becomes the 14th President of the Union.
The new president was unveiled after the union’s 23rd National Delegates Congress, held at the University of Benin in Benin City, Edo State.
Professor Piwuna defeated Professor Adamu Babayo from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.
The new ASUU chief is a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital.
He also served as the Dean of Student Affairs at the University.
