Senate President Ahmad Lawan says Nigeria is now transit route for drugs and proceed from drugs trafficking fund terrorism and banditry in the country.
Lawan said this on Thursday when he received the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig.-General Buba Marwa (rtd), in his office on Thursday at the National Assembly, Abuja.
He said: “You wonder how the bandits have RPGs and these massive arms that they have. Definitely, these are some acquisitions provided by some barons, not the bandits themselves.”
Marwa said the country is in a state of siege due to the activities of drug traffickers.
He said drug addiction scourge was largely responsible for acts of criminalities which has pervaded all parts of the country.
