The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has freed popular social media activist, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan
VDM’s counsel, Deji Adeyanju, simply said, “he (VDM) has been released.”
The commission took VeryDarkMan into custody on Friday, May 2, after arresting him over multiple petitions alleging serious financial crimes.
The EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Tuesday said the activist was granted administrative bail but remained in custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions at the time. Oyewale said VDM failed to honour its several invitations extended to him through known addresses and communication channels, adding that this made the commission to secure a lawful remand order for his arrest.
“The EFCC has a lawful right to hold Otse in custody like any other suspect being investigated by the Commission. He has been offered administrative bail and will be released after fulfilling all the bail conditions,” the agency said.
