The Zamfara Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) says it will spend N721.1 million in executing development projects in 56 communities in the third cycle of NG-CARES.
NG-CARES is Federal Government’s COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus programme, backed by the World Bank.
CSDA’s General Manager, Malam Umar Nakwada spoke about the projects in Gusau on Saturday at the pre-implementation training for participants from the 56 communities.
More than 100 participants at the training were drawn from Community Project Monitoring Committees (CPMCs) responsible for monitoring the projects in their respective communities.
Nakwada said the projects covered health, education, water supply, agriculture and drainage, among others.
“The training aims to sensitise participants on project implementation.
“Part of our responsibilities is to train participants on how to ensure effective utilisation of resources to be allocated to the projects,’’ he said.
He charged participants to ensure transparency and accountability while handling the resources in executing the projects in their respective communities.
“All the projects are expected to be completed before end of December,’’ he stressed.
In his presentation, Manager Basic Services at the CSDA, Alhaji Sani Buhari urged the participants to ensure adherence to rules and regulations of the agency.
Buhari also urged the participants to ensure effective environmental management and observance of Environmental Impact Assessment while executing the projects.
Various resource persons presented papers on roles and responsibilities of CPMC members, conflict management, environmental safeguard, and community procurement technique during the training.
Papers were also presented on stores management, report writing and participatory monitoring and evaluation.
