President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero on Thursday said the Organised Labour accepted the new N700,000 minimum wage because of other incentives attached.
He said this while speaking with correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential Villa, Abuja, where the federal government agreed to pay N70,000 as minimum wage.
Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga in a statement said Tinubu also promised to review the national minimum wage law every three years.
Citing reasons for accepting the offer, Ajaero said: “the President promised a review every three years as against what obtained in the past.”
Before the meeting, labour leaders had insisted on N250,000 minimum wage.
Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), was at the meeting also attended by other labour leaders.
