The Controller of Kaduna Correctional Service, Ibrahim Maradun, says he is yet to receive COVID-19 test result of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky’s wife, Zeenat Ibraheem, taken on Wednesday by officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
This is contrary to the claim by Zakzaky’s son, Mohammed, on Thursday that his mother had been tested positive for coronavirus.
He said his mother was undergoing treatment at the prison’s facility instead of an isolation centre.
Also, spokesperson of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim Musa, said keeping Zeenat at the detention facility after contracting coronavirus, coupled with other health challenges, put her at heightened risk of severe illness or death.
“Given her underlying medical conditions and age, her infection places her at heightened risk of severe illness and/or death. Sheikh Zakzaky himself suffers from many underlying conditions which put him at high risk of developing life-threatening symptoms should he contract the virus,” Musa said.
But Maradun said Zeenat has been in isolation since the sample was taken on Wednesday.
“As far as I am concerned, the NCDC officials took her sample on Wednesday around 5pm and I am yet to receive the result,” he said.
