President Muhammadu Buhari says the Federal Government will further strengthen the frameworks for concessions and public private partnerships (PPPs) as a way to develop needed infrastructure in the country.
Buhari said this on Thursday when he presented an appropriation bill of N16.39 trillion as the total expenditure of the federal government in 2022 to the National Assembly, christened “Budget of Economic Growth and Sustainability.”
He said his administration had used the loans to finance critical development projects and programmes aimed at improving the economic environment and ensuring effective delivery of public services.
“Capital projects that are good candidates for PPP by their nature will be developed for private sector participation,” he said.
“We will also explore available opportunities in the existing ecosystem of green finance including the implementation of our Sovereign Green Bond Programme and leveraging debt-for-climate swap mechanisms,” he said.
