The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has praised Gov. Dauda Lawal’s administration in Zamfara for promoting social protection for children and vulnerable groups in the state.
This was stated in a congratulatory message to the governor regarding Local Government Councils’ commitments to social protection.
The message, signed by UNICEF’s Representative in Nigeria, Mrs Cristian Munduate, was made available to journalists in Gusau on Friday.
“On behalf of UNICEF, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Gov. Dauda Lawal and the Zamfara government for their remarkable progress in social protection.
“The decision by the 14 Local Government Areas to propose an allocation of ₦2.9 billion in their 2025 budgets for social protection is a significant milestone.
“This move strengthens child well-being and addresses poverty in the state,” Munduate said.
She highlighted that this achievement reflects the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable people while aligning with Zamfara’s social protection policy and law.
The UNICEF representative reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to partnering with the state government to promote child welfare.
“As I assured you during my recent visit, UNICEF remains a committed partner in supporting your administration’s next steps.
“We appreciate your leadership and look forward to continued collaboration. Your commitments must translate into meaningful impact for children and vulnerable families,” he said.
