Nigeria has so far won eight medals in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics.
She won three gold medals, one silver and two bronze in powerlifting; a bronze medal in table tennis, and a bronze medal in women’s shot put.
President of Nigeria Amputee Football Federation, Suleiman Isah told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE in an interview that the feat was achieved as a result of the discipline of the Nigeria team at the event.
Isah said in an interview that the team is “very peaceful,” describing it as the “best-behaved team in Tokyo Paralympics, because it obeys all instructions by the organizers.”
Asked about the level of preparations prior to the event, Isah said, “the team was very prepared.”
“The participants camped for three months in Nigeria before going for the Olympics,” he said.
“The person representing Nigeria in the para rolling is based in England, he came with his coach for the period of the camp”.
On challenges faced at the event, he said “we faced little or no challengeS at all.”
“We even arrived in Tokyo one week before the games kicked off. The Nigerian government made adequate preparations for us to stay in Kisarazu training camp”.
Nigeria went to the Paralympics with 22 athletes to contest for powerlifting, table tennis, and athletics.
