Elder statesman and Second Republic politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has described the death of Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa as a great loss not only to members of his family but to all those who happened to relate with him in the course of life.
Yakasai disclosed this in a condolence message he personally signed on Monday.
He said “Bashir was an extremely friendly person who died at a very unforgettable time for any human being to lose his life.”
Tofa, a former presidential candidate and elder statesman, died in early hours of Monday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) after a brief illness.
Yakasai explained that “Though it was late Ibrahim Waziri who introduced the famous political saying “siyasa ba da gaba ba” the late Bashir was one of the politicians who gave that saying a practical meaning.”
“Undoubtedly, there are people who did not agree with Bashir politically during his lifetime but only few people could claim not to be on speaking terms with Bashir because of political differences.”
He said the people of Kano have lost one of their loved one by his death.
“In fact, the death of Bashir Tofa was a loss to the entire Nigerian nation,” he said.
Yakasai prayed to prayed to Almighty Allah to make Aljannah firdaus Tofa’s final abode and give members of his family and his loved ones courage and fortitude to bear this great loss.
