Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara is set to complete all abandoned housing projects by the past administrations in the state, a governor’s aide has said.
Mr Nuhu Anka, the Director-General of Media and Communication to the Governor, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Thursday.
Anka said three housing estates have been identified, with two at Daza and one in Tsauni areas of Gusau.
He noted that all the houses would be completed and connected with social amenities such as roads, water, electricity and sanitation facilities.
The director-general said that the administration had resolved to address the housing deficit by providing facilities in the state.
According to him, negotiation is ongoing with the labour and Mortgage Bank on the abandoned estates in the state for completion.
He added that plans were underway to establish two new housing estates and two layouts within the capital city, all in the year 2025.
“The government is determined to reintroduce owner occupier policy with reasonable subsidies to enable civil servants to own houses before retirement,” Anka said.
He said the issue of workers retiring from service without a house of their own would soon be history in the state.
