Troops of Operation AWATSE have arrested a suspected member of the Islamic States in West Africa Province (ISWAP), one Ibrahim Musa, in Sango Otta area of Ogun state, the Defence Headquarters has disclosed.
The arrest was made during patrols and raid operations at some areas in the Majidun area of the state.
Defence media operations spokesperson, Brig.-General Bernard Onyeuko, said during media update of operations from June to 30 that intelligence report revealed that Musa was on a mission to Lagos to acquire certain items for ISWAP’s operations in Maiduguri.
Onyeuko said during operations to forestall activities of vandals on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines at Gaun, Akute, Wawa I and II and Magbaro areas, the troops arrested one Oyeshola Saheed, for illegal oil bunkering activity at Alimosho NNPC pipeline.
“He (Saheed) named one Akanbi as the sponsor and financier of bunkering activities in the area,” Onyeuko said.
“Both vehicles and equipment used for their operations were recovered and handed over to the appropriate agency for necessary action.”
