A Sokoto health worker identified as Abubakar Hashimu Kamarawa on Monday narrated how he treated notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, who was wounded by soldiers after in a gun duel three years ago.
Kamarawa was paraded in Sokoto by the police alongside other suspects accused of collaborating with bandits terrorising the area.
Kamarawa also confessed to having treated injured bandits in his shop at Kamarawa and supplied them with Pentazocine injections which they used while going for their operation.
He said he was taken to Turji by Musa Kamarawa, another bandit collaborator, who confessed to purchasing a N28.5 million gun truck for bandit leader Halilu Kachallah.
Kamarawa said,”Musa took me to his (Turji)’s camp where I treated him from the gunshot injury he sustained on the head. That was the first time I met him, about three years ago.”
He explained that “bandits used to come to my shop for treatment and intoxicants.”
He also admitted purchasing and supplying military uniforms to the bandits.
Abubakar, who said he was once arrested and tried, said he regretted his actions.
“I have repented. In fact, I am no longer staying in that area. I have relocated to the city where I now live with my family,” he said.
The police paraded another bandits supplier, Samuel Chinedu, who was arrested at Pinnacle Hotel, while waiting to collect his money.
Mr Chinedu admitted supplying Pentazocine to bandits at the cost of N18,500.
