The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Muhammad Damma Abuba after he was identified by his victims at Kamasutra village in Silame local government area of Sokoto state.
Briefing newsmen, the spokesman of the Command, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i said the suspect was linked to various kidnapping cases carried out last year in the village.
“On April 27, 2025, a collaborative operation involving the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the State CID, Wamakko Division, and local vigilantes from Laini Village in Silame local government area resulted in the arrest of Muhammad Damma Abubakar ‘M’, a resident of Kamasu Village.
“The arrest followed actionable intelligence linking Abubakar to a 2024 kidnapping case.
” Three victims—Alhaji Garba Danbaba, Umar Ubandawaki, and Shehu Abubakar all of Kamasu Village positively identified the suspect as part of the syndicate responsible for their abduction.
“During a subsequent search, authorities recovered an AK-49 rifle and 13 rounds of live ammunition from the suspect,” Rufa’i said
According to Rufa’i Investigations were still ongoing to uncover further details about the syndicate’s operations and potential accomplices.
The Command however, reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime, urging the public to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
