The Sokoto State government is spending N680.7 million to provide free meals to boarding school students annually.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu revealed this while flagging- off 2024-2025 enrollment drive campaign in Dange Shuni local government area on Thursday.
“We have re-introduced and improved School Feeding covering 23 Boarding Schools with a population of 17,367 Students, costing N680,786,400.00 annually,” he said.
He also stated that 2,000 teachers were recruited and deployed to schools, including nomadic schools.
“Our Government also constructed 147 classrooms, and renovated 142, provided 208 VIP toilets, school fencing and boreholes among others, so as to provide a conducive environment for learning,” he said.
