Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the Kano State Government and the family of late Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, the Galadiman Kano and senior Kano Emirate official.
The News of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the revered Galadima of Kano, and the ancient city’s oldest kingmaker, died on April 2, at the age of 91.
Shettima, who described the deceased as father to all, said that he would be forever missed.
” I am here to commiserates with the family of the revered late Galadima of Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi. It is a great loss not only to the people of Kano States but it a great loss to the people of northern Nigeria.
” Kano is very important to Northern Nigeria and whatever happens to Kano will automatically affect the entire people of the North.
” I pray may Allah grant the soul of late Galadiman Kano eternal rest grant him Aljannah,” Shettima said.
The Vice-President use the condolences visit to preach peace and unity among the people of Kano irrespective of their political inclination.
” You should forgive and embrace each other. Most of you sitting here are older than me and even me that is younger than all of you here I’m 58 years old.
” What unite us supercede whatever divide us. So let us continue to relate peacefully with one another,” Shettima said.
He condemned the recent attacked at the Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano by unidentified gunmen.
Earlier, Gov. Yusuf Kabir of Kano State, thanked the Vice-President and members of his encourage for the visit to the Kano Government and family of late Galadiman Kano.
” We are grateful for your presence here today to commiserates with the noble family of late Galadiman Kano and we pray May Allah take you back to your destination safely.”
Responding, the eldest son of late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Kabiru Abbas, appreciated the Vice-President for honouring the family with his presence in Kano.
” Your Excellency, your presence in our family house today is testament to the fact that Nigeria government held late Galadiman Kano with highest respects.” (NAN)
