Security operatives have rescued 25 youth abducted on Wednesday along Wukari – Takum road in Taraba state.
The youths were rescued on Saturday by the combined team of soldiers during an operation in Taraba and Benue forests.
Spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, David Misal, said he could not officially confirm the incident, for he had been transferred out of the command, but he heard that about the rescue of 24 youths. He said the new PRO is yet to resume.
But a relation of one of the rescued persons, Baba Muhammed, told journalists that 24 out of the 25 people abducted had been rescued. He said the authorities told them that the search for the remaining one person is ongoing.
Muhammed said five of the rescued youths have been taken to hospital in Takum for treatment.
