A pregnant woman was hit by a stray bullet when kidnappers raided Kwaita community in Kwali area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Three people, including the husband of the pregnant woman, were kidnapped in the raid that happened at about 11pm on Wednesday.
An eyewitness said the kidnappers shot sporadically when they invaded, and in the process the pregnant woman was hit by a stray bullet.
“They wanted to take the woman along, but when they discovered that she sustained a bullet wound and she is pregnant, they left her behind,” he said.
He said the pregnant woman has been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Gwagwalada for treatment.
Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Maryam Yusuf, said the police have rescued one kidnap victim and a policeman sustained injury during a fierce battle with the kidnappers .
She said efforts were being made to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the remaining victims.
