The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has failed to implement the 35 percent affirmative action in three of the party’s concluded zonal congresses.
The PDP women leader, Hajiya Maryam Waziri, disclosed this on Tuesday during the party’s inauguration of its National Women’s Lobby Committee in Abuja,
She recalled that the party’s National Secretary was directed to raise a memo and copy same to all state chapters so that women should be given 35 per cent of executive positions at all levels and organs of the party, adding that the leadership of the party made the promise during the 87th NEC meeting in that regard.
“Unfortunately, three zones have concluded their congresses; still, the story remains the same. We still have only women leaders, instead of us having at least four women in the zonal working committee.
Responding, the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, said the 35 percent had already been taken, adding this would be achieved subsequently.
