Conclusive evidence of the madness that is banditry was the kidnap on the Abuja-Kaduna highway on Tuesday of Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, Sarkin Fulanin Bungudu, a First Class Emir in Zamfara State.
This veteran civil servant and former Secretary to the Zamfara State Government [SSG] has been in the forefront of tackling all community disputes involving pastoralists and farmers, bringing education, health and welfare to pastoral communities, and is in the forefront of the effort to preserve and promote Fulfulde language and Fulani cultural heritage.
Now his abductors, alleged to be Fulani men, are demanding N100 million in ransom for Mai Fulanin Bungudu, despite the fact that he is in frail health and was on a medical trip when he was abducted.
