Senator Abdul Ningi (Bauchi, PDP) has stepped down as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum.
He conveyed his decision in a letter dated March 11, 2024 to the Secretary of the forum, saying his resignation was “necessitated by the events in the National Assembly, the North and the nation at large.
Mr Ningi thanked his colleagues for allowing him to serve them for the past eight months, adding that “I believe this forum is very important and fundamental to the progress and development of Northern Nigeria.”
He was suspended for three months over his allegation that the National Assembly padded the 2024 budget with N3.7 trillion. Thereafter, the forum, distanced itself from him. The Presidency attacked him and the Senate suspended him on Tuesday.
