Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle has suspended the Emir of Zurmi, Atiku Muhammad, over alleged involvement in the spate of killings in his domain.
The governor disclosed this in a statement by the acting Secretary to the State Government, Kabiru Balarabe, on Saturday.
The suspension of Zurmi emir came two weeks after Matawalle suspended the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Hussaini Umar, over similar issue.
The governor directed Bunun Kanwa, Bello Suleiman, to take charge of affairs of Zurmi Emirate with immediate effect.
“In the meantime, His Excellency has also approved the constitution of a high powered Committee to investigate allegations made against the suspended Emir, on his involvement in the escalating rate of banditry attacks in the Emirate,” the statement said.
