The deputy governor of Katsina state, Mannir Yakubu, has resigned his position as commissioner of Agriculture as he set to contest for the governor’s seat in 2023.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari will be rounding up his second tenure next year.
In a statement signed by the deputy governor’s media aide, Musa Ibrahim Kallah, Mannir said he resigned to respect the provision of the law.
He also noted that he has helped in repositioning the “agricultural sector where farmers experienced turn around in agricultural production that guaranteed food security, and Agro industrial needs of the State and Nigeria at large.”
The deputy governor commended Masari for the opportunity to to contribute his quota in achieving the restoration agenda of the administration.
Yakubu declared to contest for the governorship last week.
