A former manager of Lobi Stars Football Club, Mr Barnabas Imenger, is dead.
He died on Monday at the National Hospital Abuja after a protracted illness, a statement by the club said.
He was 55.
He was a former team manager of Lobi Stars FC Makurdi. He served as a player and coach in the course of his football career.
Imenger started his football career in Makurdi with HMB FC, moved to BBL Hawks (later known as Lobi Bank FC and now Lobi Stars), and then played for BCC Lions FC Gboko, El-kanemi Warriors FC Maiduguri.
He was also a member of the senior national football team, the super Eagles of Nigeria.
He also played professional football in Saudi Arabia.
He is survived by his mother and two children.
One of the deceased children, Barnabas Imenger Jr. is a Nigerian football forward, who most recently played for MC Alger in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle.
