Two property agents Terrence Abolo, 42 and Precious Abolo, 37, have allegedly beat a landlord’s son in Lagos.
The suspects, who reside in Ori-Okuta area of Ikorodu, were arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
They are facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at Efunlaroja Street, Ori-Okuta in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
Famuyiwa alleged that the defendants assaulted the landlord’s son, one Shotuminu Abayomi, by landing punches to his face as a result of which he sustained injuries.
The prosecutor said the landlord had allegedly consulted the agents to sell the house.
She said, on getting to the house, the agents allegedly conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by locking the entrance to the house.
The prosecutor said that Abayomi, who was in the house when the agents called, challenged the agents’ authority.
In the ensuing argument, the agents allegedly beat up Abayomi and was overwhelmed to sit on the floor.
She said that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr A. O. Ogbe, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
The case has been adjourned to August 4 for trial.
