Obasa said Nigeria can only be seen to be practicing true federalism with the characteristic of state police with the power and capacity to tackle crimes.

He said calls by a former president and other former top government officials in that regard were all proof that it was an idea whose time had come.

The lawmakers urged Buhari and the National Assembly to come up with a constitutional amendment that would enshrine state police.
