Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah of Sokoto Diocese has urged Nigerians to be resilient and unite in the fight against security challenges in the country.
He said, “We need to work together towards achieving peace in the country. If we can work together, we will achieve a lot.
“God is the giver of faith. One can be a Muslim or Christian tomorrow. If you are faithful, what are you doing to help your society,” he asked.
Kukah, who was speaking at the High level town hall meeting on Peace and Security in the Northwestern region, noted that bandits don’t spare people because of their religion.
“Let us therefore fight them together,” he appealed.
The Bishop described Sokoto as his home, adding that if he dies, he would be buried there.
The meeting which was organized by the Kukah Centre in collaboration with the Global Right and UKAID, has the theme “Strengthening Civic Participation and Women inclusion in Peace Building Processes”.
Also speaking, Governor Ahmed Aliyu said fighting security challenges in the north requires a synchronized effort, involving every stakeholder within our society.
