The Katsina State government says it may institute a legal action against the Nigerian Customs Service over the killing of people by customs vehicles in the state.
The state Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, disclosed this in a statement by his spokesperson, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, on Friday.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that eight people were killed by an operative of the Nigerian Customs Service driving an official vehicle in Jibia Local Government on Monday.
Masari condemned the recurring killings of citizens through reckless driving by Customs operatives in the state.
He said the government would not fold its arm while law abiding citizens are killed with impunity by reckless government agents who are supposed to protect them.
He said henceforth the government would not condone any such act by the Customs.
The governor condoled the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries during the incident.
