The Katsina State Government is constructing a special school for brilliant students from less privileged background at Jikamshi, Musawa Local Government Area of the state, an official disclosed.
Dr Habib Abdulkadir, the Local Government Council Chairman made the disclosure to newsmen on Tuesday at Musawa.
He revealed that the school, called Mega School, would admit less privileged children from Funtua Senatorial Zone.
“The school aims to admit brilliant students from every ward and village in Funtua zone, who will receive quality education free-of-charge,” he said.
The chairman commended Gov. Dikko Radda for the initiative, which he said, would go a long way in developing the education sector.
He said that the state government was also constructing similar schools in Katsina and Daura Senatorial zones of the state.
Abdulkadir further explained that the government was committed to improving the general standard of education across the state.
According to him, some of the projects executed by the present administration in the education sector include construction and renovation of additional classes, and provision of instructional materials.
Abdulkadir listed some of the benefiting schools in his area to include Fulalawa, Yarradau, Gadanga, Sada, Gidan-gora, Tsuntsaye, among others.
He revealed that government had also drilled boreholes and constructed toilets to enhance sanitation and personal hygiene among pupils and teachers in those schools.
On its part, Abdulkadir said, the local government council had rehabilitated some Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) to enhance healthcare service delivery at the grassroots level.
He listed the PHCs to include Yarkirgi, Garu, Jikamshi, Marabar-Musawa, Kurkujan, Yar-awala, Gingin and Tuge wards.
The chairman revealed that the PHCs were upgraded with equipment, construction of staff houses and perimeter fence as well as provision of water and electricity to make them more functional.
Other projects executed by the council were construction of Mosques and drainages among others.
