The Kano Governorship Election Tribunal has started delivering judgment in the petition filed by Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Governor Kabiru Yusuf Abba of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
The judgment at the Kano High Court complex, Miller Road on Wednesday, is being transmitted virtually via Zoom as the panel members are not physically in the court.
Lawyers, media professionals, and other accredited people are in the court and presently listening to the judgment.
The All Progressives Congress is challenging the electoral victory of Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party as governor of Kano state as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Security has been beefed up in and around the court premises early this morning
The police were screening persons going and coming out of the premises, just as the secretariat has declared that there will be no live broadcast of the judgment.
Because of how tense the situation has gotten, the security is giving members of the tribunal tight security cover such that their whereabouts has been kept secret from public glare.
The tribunal judges are not on seat as at the time of this report as the set up was suggesting it will be done via zoom.The state Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Muhammed Gumel, has just said only court officials, lawyers, party members and journalists would be allowed into the court premises.
