The Kaduna State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending one of the perpetrators behind the Kaduna-Abuja passenger train attack, known as Ibrahim Abdullahi, alias Mande.

According to police reports, Mande was captured by the anti-kidnapping unit of the Kaduna State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on January 12, 2024, within Kaduna state’s jurisdiction.

Speaking on the arrest, Police Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday at the Kaduna Police Command disclosed that Mande confessed to orchestrating various criminal activities along the notorious Kaduna-Abuja Highway, positioning himself as a key figure in the region’s kidnapping syndicates.

Detailing the operation leading to Mande’s capture, Adejobi highlighted the coordinated efforts of law enforcement personnel, who acted swiftly upon receiving credible intelligence.

He said Mande was apprehended at the Abuja-Kaduna Road flyover by Rido Junction, a significant milestone in the fight against crime in the region.

Adejobi emphasized the strategic measures deployed along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, endorsed by the Inspector General of Police.

He explained that these initiatives, including helicopter patrols and ground troop deployments, serve to safeguard travelers and preemptively counter any security threats, contributing significantly to recent successes.

He said the relentless pursuit of criminal elements has yielded remarkable results, with the arrest of numerous suspects involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, rape, cult-related crimes, and other illicit activities.

He said additionally, significant quantities of firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles, and ransom payments have been recovered, underscoring the commitment to restoring law and order in the region.
