Security agencies have been asked to bring to bear on subsequent elections the professionalism they displayed during the successful conduct of governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.
Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu made the call during an inter-agency consultative committee on electionsecurity (ICCES) meeting held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said the commission has already released the timetable for the Anambra governorship election.
He said the commission appreciates the roles played by the members of the ICCES during the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states in September and October last year as well as 16 legislative bye-elections in 12 states in the last nine weeks.
