President Bola Tinubu has postponed this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to an undisclosed date.
This newspaper reports that although some ministers were seated for the meeting, President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, were yet to arrive.
At about 12:15 pm, some ministers began packing their memos and walking to the exit.
Some of the ministers said that the Monday’s meeting had been shifted to a soon-to-be-disclosed date.
There was no reasons for the postponement. A presidency source said the notice of the meeting was circulated on Sunday but cancelled on Monday before noon.
It was learned that President Tinubu is scheduled to meet with Service Chiefs at 2:00 pm to discuss the nationwide protests, among other matters.
There have been protests across the country over economic hardship by Nigerians, mostly youths, since Thursdsy, under the banner of #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.
In a national broadcast on Sunday, Mr Tinubu had called for dialogue and an immediate end to the nationwide protests.
Two dozens protesters were reportedly killed by security agents and dozens others wounded, with many more arrested.
