Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has emphasized that corruption poses a significant threat to the progress and advancement of individuals and nations worldwide.
The EFCC Chairman conveyed this message during the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day, centered on the theme “Anti-Corruption Day is UNCAC @ 20: Uniting the World against Corruption in Kaduna.
Highlighting that no one is exempt from the corruption contagion, he stressed the global unity in seeking remedies for this pervasive issue.
Represented by the Kaduna Zonal Acting Commander Aisha Abubakar, Olu said the commission dedication persists in aligning with the corruption prevention framework endorsed by UNCAC.
“In pursuit of this prevention-oriented approach, my leadership at the Commission will prioritize key areas: fostering collaboration and synergy with local and foreign law enforcement agencies, upholding professionalism, and unwavering adherence to the rule of law as the absolute minimum in all our endeavors.
“Only through professionalism and strict adherence to the rule of law can the Commission contribute to economic growth by reinstating investors’ confidence in our economy,” he said
He further added that their strategic focus necessitates the creation of conducive environments for job opportunities, the expansion of investment opportunities nationwide, and enhancement of international standing.
He further said that the EFCC will persist in its role in combating corruption, aiming to collaboratively achieve a world free from corruption.
