The House of Representatives on Wednesday recommend the sack of acting Director-General of the Project Development Institute, Enugu, Fabian Okonkwo, over alleged procurement fraud.
PRODA is an institute under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
The House gave the recommendation after adopting the report of the investigation by the House Committee on Public Procurement, headed by NasiruAli Ahmed, on alleged Procurement Deception and Staff Victimization in PRODA.
The committee also recommend that all contracts awarded by the acting Director-General be nullified and all monies paid to companies awarded contracts illegally be recovered by relevant government anti-graft agencies immediately.
It also recommend freezing of accounts of those companies paid illegally.
It recommend also that the PRODA acting DG should be handed over to the relevant government anti-graft Agencies for investigation “in line with the provisions of Sections 53 and 58 of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.”
