The Emir of Gwandu, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar (rtd), has commended Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi, for the complete renovation of ‘Sarkin Gwandu Mosque’, enhancing its appearance and functionality.
Iliyasu-Bashar gave the commendation during the formal reopening of the Mosque, located within the emir’s palace in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
He noted that while the renovation was initiated by the previous administration, it was successfully completed under Gov. Idris’ leadership.
“The project not only restored the Mosque but also equipped it with modern facilities, ensuring comfort for worshippers,” he said.
Iliyasu-Bashir urged the Mosque committee to prioritise proper maintenance of the facilities to ensure their longevity.
The emir called on traders and wealthy individuals to fear God in their dealings, especially regarding the high prices of farm produce despite the ongoing harvest season.
Earlier, Alhaji Manir Musa Jega, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of M-Tech Concept Engineering and Construction Company, the firm responsible for the Mosque’s renovation, praised Gov. Idris for entrusting local contractors with state projects.
He highlighted that such initiatives would create more job opportunities and empower indigenous contractors.
Musa Jega also called on other governors in the country to emulate Gov. dris’ style, especially in awarding contracts to local contractors as well as undertaking developmental projects that would benefit their people.
