Gunmen on Friday abducted, Alhaji Kabir Umar, the village head of Raddah community in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State
His younger brother, Adamu, was also injured in the operation.
The spokesperson, Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the incident but failed to give details.
Residents said the gunmen stormed the community in large numbers around 2am on Friday and started shooting sporadically.
“We cannot say exactly the number of items stolen or taken along with them as they kept on shooting during the operation and also while they were leaving the community,” a resident told journalists.
He said the whereabouts of the village head was still unknown.
