Gunmen on Monday abducted a professor at the Department of Medical Microbiology, University of Jos, Grace Ayanbimpe and her husband around Lamingo in Jos North Local Government area of Plateau state.
A source in the university said the duo were abducted from their resident behind Stanel Oil Lamingo, Jos, at about 3am on Monday.
She said the gunmen broke into their house and shot into the air, and later whisked away the professor and her husband.
The source said the neighbour could not come come out for the fear of being shot by the assailants.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Ubah Gabriel, confirmed the incident.
He said the command had deployed tactical operatives to the area, while efforts were being made to rescue the victims and arresting the perpetrators.
