A senior police officer with the Edo State Police Command, identified as Clement Amoko, was on Sunday abducted by gunmen in his residence in Benin, Edo State.
The spokesperson, Edo State Police Command, Princewill Osaigbovo, confirmed the incident.
It was learnt that the gunmen broke into the residence of the victim in the early hours of Sunday and took him away in the presence of his wife and children.
A family member said the abductors have already made contact with them, demanding ransom.
The police spokesperson said the command has commenced an operation to rescue the officer.
