A rice dealer in Gombe State, Ibrahim Yusuf, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment over N5.3 million fraud.
The EFCC, Gombe Zonal Command, secured the conviction on February 15, 2022.
Yusuf was sentenced by Justice Doraboh Sakkiam of the Gombe High Court, Gombe.
The court found him guilty on one count charge of cheating contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 322 of same Law.
The convict was alleged to have sometimes in October 2020 obtained N5.35 million from one Usman Umar Bello by falsely representing to him that the money was payment for the purchase of 520 bags of paddy rice but converted same to his personal use.
He pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
