A Fifth pilgrim from Nigeria has died in the course of performing the 2024 Hajj operations.
The latest is a female pilgrim from Kaduna State, Hajiya Asma’u Muhammad-Ladan, who passed away at the King Fahad hospital in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Friday after a brief illness.
Two pilgrims from Kebbi State, Hajiya Tawalkatu Busare Alako, popularly known as Maman Biyu, and Alhaji Muhammad Suleman were the first to die on May 25 in Makkah a few days after arriving at the holy city from Madina.
On June 13, Salman Muhammad Alade and Ayishat Shuaib Ologele from Kwara state died after suffering brief illnesses.
The spokesperson of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi, announced this in Arafat on Saturday.
Abdullahi did not give her Local Government Area, as she was registered at the headquarters of the agency.
He said the family of the late pilgrim has been notified, adding that the management and staff of the agency commiserated with them over the death of Hajiya Asma’u.
The agency prayed to Allah (SWT) to have mercy upon the deceased’s soul, forgive her sins and comfort her family over the irreparable loss.
