About N5.4billion out of N12.085billion allegedly stolen by some former officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have been recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Executive Secretary of NHIS, Prof Muhammad Nasir Sambo, has disclosed.

Sambo said this on Thursday when he led the management of the agency on a courtesy visit to EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

“This is a monumental achievement and that is why we will ensure that we remain good partners to the EFCC. I assure you that every kobo recovered will be judiciously utilized,” Sambo sais.

The Executive Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said the agency would not relent in its efforts to see that each and every miny that is lost is recovered for the benefit of the country.

“We will always see to it that the investigation that we are doing, we will continue with it; we are happy that it is yielding results and all the monies or funds that are recovered are being put to good use,” Bawa who was represented by the Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, said.
