Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says it recorded 610 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday.
The agency in an update on its website said the new infections were recorded in 12 states and the FCT.
It said Lagos, which I the epicentre of the pandemic in the country, recorded the highest cases with 281 infections, followed by Rivers with 152 cases while Akwa Ibom recorded 85 cases.
Other states that recorded new cases are Ogun, 21; Oyo, 21; Ekiti, 14; FCT, 13; Delta, 7; Edo, 6; Ondo, 4; Bayelsa, 2; Kano, 2; and Plateau, 2.
The agency said two persons died as a result of COVID-19 complications on Tuesday, bringing the total number of fatalities to 2,194.
It also said 149 people were discharged on Tuesday after recovering from the infection.
Nigeria has recorded 179,118 cases of COVID-19, while 166,131 people have so far recovered, since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
