The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, says every Nigerian will eventually receive a jab of the COVID-19 vaccine free, hence need not to pay to racketeers.
He said this on Monday at the joint national briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19 in Abuja.
He said the ministry has received report of racketeering of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines in some of the designated vaccination centres.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abdullaziz Mashi Abdullahi, said behaviour was not necessary as every Nigerian would eventually be vaccinated.
“ Vaccination has been scheduled in phases such that frontline health workers and those at higher risk of the infection are vaccinated first after registration at the portal,” he said. “Everyone will be vaccinated free and everyone will eventually be vaccinated. There is no need to pay to be vaccinated.”
