Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule says his administration will set up a reconciliation committee to resolve the lingering mutual suspicion between the Alago and Tiv.
Sule said this when he hosted members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Alago Development Association at the Government House in Lafia.
He said the committee would be chaired by the state Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe.
The governor said the committee was necessary in order to address a series of allegations over land occupation and other sundry issues, which he said have constituted a threat to peace among the two ethnic groups.
He said his administration was determined to pursue a peaceful resolution of the impasse, which he said could be attained through the setting up of the committee.
Sule said the National Boundary Commission had already waded into the matter, towards redefining boundaries between Nasarawa and Benue states.
He also said that he army had established 177 Battalion in Kadarko to augment the Operation Whirldstrock personnel in Giza, which aimed at reinforcing security along the border communities.
