Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ms Ireti Heeba Kingibe of the Labor Party as the winner of Saturday’s senatorial election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ms Kingibe defeated Senator Philip Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has been at the Senate in the last 12 years.
The result was declared by INEC’s returning officer, Professor Sani Saka, on Tuesday.
Prof Saka said Ms Kingibe polled 202,175 votes to defeat Aduda, who garnered 100, 544 votes.
Mr Zakari Angulu of the All Progressives Congress scored 78, 905 votes.
