Bandits have released the 27 remaining students abducted from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State.
Kaduna based-cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi’s dialogue committee, with support from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, facilitated the students’ release, according to Daily Trust.
The parents of the 37 students staged a protest at the National Assembly on Tuesday, urging the lawmakers to intervene for the release of the students who were taken away from their hostels about two months ago.
The bandits had earlier released 10 students after their parents paid ransom. The bandits earlier demanded a ransom of N500 million.
Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i said he won’t negotiate with bandits nor give them ransom, drawing criticisms from parents and guardians of the students.
