Bandits have carted away some arms when they attacked Shinkafi Police station in Zamfara State.
Sources said the the attack came following a threat letter to the community earlier on Friday, where two bandits’ leaders, Kachalla Turji and Halilu Sububu, announced a joint mission to attack Shinkafi and surrounding communities.
However, the police is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Meanwhile, farmers in some frontline local governments in Katsina state have resorted to forceful payment of taxes to bandits to enable them assess their farms.
Reports said farmers in Batsarin-Alhaji, Nahuta, Kasai, Dangeza, Dantudu and many others had either paid in the past or still pay such illegal taxes to bandits to allow them to access their farms.
For farmers that didn’t pay taxes, the bandits would release cattle onto their farm to graze on their produce.
District Head of Batsari, Tukur Muazu, said about eight village heads in Batsari have abandoned their domains and now taking refuge in Katsina city.
