Bandits on Tuesday invaded some communities in two local governments of Niger state in which the District Head of Kusheriki, Mas’ud Abubaker, five vigilantes and four other persons were reportedly killed.
The traditional ruler was said to have been murdered in Kusharki in Rafi local government area, while the vigilantes and four others were killed in Fuye village of Munya local government of the state.
The bandits were also reported to have abducted the wife and children of the slain traditional ruler during the attacks.
In Munya local government, it was learnt that 23 persons including 15 women were abducted during the invasion of the village.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, condemned the killing of the royal father in a statement issued in Minna Tuesday, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary CPS, Mary Noel Barje.
Meanwhile, the state government said 10 of the passengers abducted Sunday have been released.
The state commissioner of Information and Strategy, Alhaji Mohammed Idris stated this Tuesday at the General hospital where some of the released victims were taken for medical attention.
